Many substantial changes have occurred in the last years at the experimental, methodological and conceptual levels. The influence of Nonlinear Dynamics, Chaos and the Physics of Complex Systems has supposed a strong stimulus into the modeling and understanding of biological systems, which constitute oftentimes very interesting complex systems, where the whole is always larger the sum of its parts and where the mutual interactions among theirs integrating parts provide important global properties. Among the different examples of applications we can highlight neuronal dynamics, and behavior of the brain, from which usually it is referred to as the more complex system par excellence. The recent advances in gene sciences, has allowed also that interesting results and methods of complex systems physics to contribute to the description of the genetic regulation networks modelling. Phenomena such as chaos and its control and synchronization of many coupled systems, are fundamental in the description of many biological systems. The aim of this seminar is to present an overview about some research which is done nowadays using ideas of nonlinear dynamics, chaos and complex systems theory and applied to several aspects of biological and life sciences, such as neuronal dynamics, genetic networks, analysis of MEG data, etc...
