The Ding Group
Nuclear Clock & Cold Molecules
Welcome to the Ding Group at Department of Physics, Tsinghua University!

Quantum coherent control of atoms has transformed atomic physics, enabling advancements in precision measurements, quantum information processing, and the simulation of strongly correlated quantum systems. These techniques hold immense potential to revolutionize other fields. One approach involves manipulating more complicated systems, such as molecules, while another explores simpler systems, like nuclei. Both pathways hold tremendous promise.

Guided by these two directions, our group is currently focused on two major projects: developing a Th-229 nuclear clock and advancing direct laser cooling of molecules.

Research Areas

Th-229 Nuclear Clock
Nuclear transitions are far more robust against external perturbations compared to electronic transitions, owing to the much smaller size and multipole moment of nuclei. This opens possibilities to de···
Direct Laser Cooling of Molecules
Ultracold molecules provide strong and long-range dipolar interactions, which offer a new toolbox for quantum simulations, such as those of quantum magnetism. By achieving full control over all degree···
